About the game
In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, you’re part of a group called Expedition 33, headed on a desperate last mission to stop the Paintress from erasing people with her cursed number. You play as Gustave, Maelle, and other expeditioners as they follow clues left by past expeditions, searching places like the Island of Visages and the Forgotten Battlefield. Battles are turn-based with real-time actions mixed in, so you can dodge, parry, counter, and time your attacks to hit enemy weak points. What keeps you busy is building your characters with gear, stats, skills, and team synergies, then pushing through tough encounters while uncovering secrets and hidden quests across the world map.

Once a year, the Paintress wakes and paints upon her monolith. Paints her cursed number. And everyone past that age turns to smoke and fades away. Year by year, that number ticks down and more of us are erased. Tomorrow she’ll wake and paint “33.” And tomorrow we depart on our final mission - Destroy the Paintress, so she can never paint death again.
